Does anyone know of a way for IP phones such as 4621 and 9650's to show the actual phone number instead of just the extension? He have several prefixes and would make it much easier for user if they could see their actual DID number instead of just the extension.

Do you mean on outgoing calls ??? what does the set present currently if you where to dial a cell phone ?? what type of trunks are you using ??

APSS (SME)
ACSS (SME)
ACIS (UC)

If you mean on the top line of the display I believe that comes directly from your dialplan. If you have 4 digits defined as your extensions then that's what the top line of the phone displays. Not sure how big your site is, but if you wanted the full number then you'd have to convert to E.164 as your extensions and then use the display parameters to manipulate the call-appearances etc... Basically you can have your extensions defined as the full E.164 number, but display just the 4 digits on the call appearances...bridges.. etc.. At least on 6.x

Use the menu option on either phone. On my 96xx series I

1. Menu
2. Options and settings
3. Application Settings
4. Personalize Labels
5 Select line appearance
6. Enter phone number.

I do not know if you could set this with the phone backup files but I do not think you can do this through CM. So you may have to do this on every phone.

On the 46xx series it's Menu then Feature Button Labeling.

I thought on the very top line where the time and date are located.. the number that appears there is the number defined in the numbering plan and can't be edited?

Yes the very top will not be able change, but I have the same issue as the OP with many prefixes, so I sometimes will change the feature button label to the DID to make it clear to the user what their DID is.
