I have a CD-RW drive. I put a DVD into it but nothing happens, and Windows Explorer shows nothing in the drive. Should a CD be able to read a DVD? Do I need/can I get software that will allow this to work?

Thanks,

BB

Unless otherwise specified in the box or manual , CD-RW drives usually can't read DVD's. you really need to get a DVD drive for that. CD-RW drives can read and write several formats of CD's but DVD's are out of there league.

Differetn types of coding and laser frecuencies. if you want to get technical.

No for that you would need a DVDRW,they do it all.

Or just a DVD-ROM drive if you only want to be able to read DVD's...
