shortcuts have an icon on the icon 1

I know it sounds wierd.
On a P3/650 256MB NT4 SP6 all my shortcuts have a trillian icon on top of the icon.

I had trillian .73 but I don't use it. I had a problem yesterday where a jaz drive wasn't accesable and My Computer locked up. From the Task Manager I End Tasked My Computer. When the desktop came up I now have a Trillian icon on top of the shortcut icon. This is in Windows Explorer as well. This does not effect anything other than shortcuts. Even the little arrow showing it is a shortcut is gone. The icons for My Computer, IE, Recycle Bin are fine.

I have tried uninstalling Trillian, no change
reinstalling Trillian, no change
upgrading Trillian, no change

Any ideas?

Try deleting the file SHELLICONCACHE in C:\WINNT. The file is hidden, and you will need a reboot once deleted to see if it has worked. -----------------------------------------------------

I did and it didn't fix the problem. :-(

Try the repair icons option in Tweakui (

http://www.microsoft.com/ntworkstation/downloads/PowerToys/Networking/NTTweakUI.asp).

The freeware Desktop Architect also has a remove corrupted icon cache option (which may do the same as TheLad's answer - I'm not sure).
