When I create a shortcut on my desktop to a file on our newtork I get an illegal operation message come up when I double-click it. Anyone got any ideas?

What sort of file are you short-cutting to?
Can you see/access the file directly via Windows Explorer or any other tool?

If your setting up your shortcut to use the UNC path to the executable you may want to try mapping the network drive with the application and then pointing your shortcut to it.
Doug
dxd_2000@yahoo.com

It's a Microsoft Schedule file in a common directory that points to a mapped network drive.
