I have a client with one of each of the above mentioned OS's on different pc's. They are networked with via wireless and each pc can map drives on each other etc. When I try to install the printer attached to the XP box (Lexmark X73 with usb connection) on the 98 box nothing happens i.e. the installationprocess completes but there is no printer icon in the printer applet for the Lexmark. I have tried every method I can think of too connect the printer but no luck.

I also cannot browse the workgroup from either pc and the drive mappings are done by ip address.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes I can ping each from the other and map drives as I said.

Do you run a DHCP server on either one (the XP I would guess) ?
Have you run the Network Wizard and made the floppy ?

I ran into this kind of issue with a Win98SE and an XP Home. The XP could ping the 98 but not map any drives, and the 98 couldn't even ping the XP at all.
Took me 8 hours to resolve, which was basically done by removing all software network components in Win98SE and removing the network card driver. On reboot, reinstalled the card drivers, then used the XP network disk.
Still didn't work, but then I went in the Network Properties and corrected some parameters. After two or three reboots, Win98 took the correct driver update and it worked.

Pascal.
