We have a small workgroup set up between 2 computers running Windows 2K professional. They are connected via a Netgear DG814 DSL 4 port switch/router/modem combo acting as the 'network' gateway (for sharing DSL). I have set fixed internal addresses for the two computers. I have set up one of the PC's as the (win)fax host station and the other as the client. A fax modem is connected (and working properly) on the host station. Sending and receiving faxes on the host machine is working OK. I can ping the host from the client OK. However on the client machine I get the message 'cannot connect to winfax on 192.168.1.3 (the host address' reason access refused. Check that this is the correct host name'.
So, the client computer name can see the host computer name but for some reason cannot connect via the TCPIP address.
In the winfax software on the client machine I have the option to ping the host with the TCPIP address or the computer name, none of which is successful.
Any suggestions ?
