sharing / security ?

can someone give me a quick explanation of the differences between the sharing tab, and the security tab? I took off simple file sharing on xp pro and am having trouble accessing some shares. Does the user you want to give access to a share have to be in the sharing tab (under permissions) and under the security tab?

Yes the user has to have permission in both. The share permisson basicly just allows the user to see and access the share. The folder permission is how locked down they will be once the are inside the share.
