I have a NT40 machine and I am trying to share the printer with a 98 machine. I created the printer on the NT and shared it as far I as I know. It has the little hand under it. And when I try to connect to the NT machine through the 98 it ask me for the IPC$ password I don't remember putting a password on the share. can anyone out there help?
Thanks

Is this an NT server of Wrokstation? Are you using a Domain structure? What ID are you logging into each machine with?

Windows 98 machine needs the same protocols as NT Server. Win98 needs a user account that is valid for the server. Passwords must be put in correctly, if you are using domain structures, the 98 machine needs the client for ms networks with the domain specified. if that doesn't work, take two aspirin and call me in the morning...
It shouldn't be a real problem. Just make sure the user is on the list of people that can use the printer. When you setup a printer in Windows NT 4, it automatically sets permissions. If the user is not there, add them. Then when they logon to the machine one, either for print access or file access, they enter there password once, and they won't have to do it that session again.

Thanks for all the suggestions..
I got it to work.
first off it is a workstation one of only two NT machines so far, I had to create an account on the NT machine with the same login name and password as the 98 machine. And what do you know it worked like a charm.
thanks again
