Is there a way to share the files in my inbox and other folders on my home network? I check my e-mail on my desktop and on my laptop seperately several times a day. I find myself needing to view the e-mail that has been downloaded on the other computer a lot of the time.

I'm hoping there is a way to view the e-mail from Windows mail folders on my desktop from my laptop and vice versa.

Thanks!

Check your eMail client, e.g. Outlook, Outlook Express etc...

there should be a setting to download from server (or leave copy on server), make sure that that is not checked...

since you have not mentioned what email client you use, I can't direct you to where the setting is...

most likely to be found under the accounts settings...

Ben, did you mean "Leave a copy on the Server", should be checked? This would have to be watched as many ISP have limited MB size for Inboxes and you might find you run out of room if you don't remove them regularly.

Some other things to look at if they apply?

Linney, I did actually mean that it should be checked... it is a quick and dirty way of doing that...

as to the ISP's having limited room, I guess I am spoiled, as most of my email inboxes all are above a GIG in size, e.g. Gmail, GMX... also they have options to keep emails for a certain period of time before they delete them, and that would be fine as they are already on the PC/Laptop...

but I do not know the status of Internet Providers in the US nor in AU, just for the small spot called Germany... SO you do have a valid point, in that that should be watched...

Synchronizing is the cleanlier option, and should be attempted... IMHO... Thanks Linney for posting those links, I must admit I had forgotten about that...

Use the 'leave on server' option in conjunction with the 'remove after x days'. As long as you connect both machines within the x days you'll get mail on both machines and after x days it will be removed from the mail server, so that storage limit is not exceeded.
