Shared Variable in Select Expert

Hi All:
I have a main report which takes in a date parameter. I need to get all the records in the subreport which have a date less then the parameter.
I tried placing the parameter in a shared variable but the select expert will not allow me to use the shared var there.
Any ideas will be appriciated

While in your main report, right click on your sub-rebort and choose "Change Subreport Links" Pick your variable from the list. Link it to your date field in the subreport. In the select expert for your sub, change the {date.field}={?Pm-?date.param} to
{date.field}<{?Pm-?date.param}
