I have 2 computers on a network at home. Using DSL connected through a router to internet and local net.

I have an HP 6540 inkjet. The computers are running 1) WinME
and 2) Vista.

Both computers have the 6540 print drivers installed on the respective computers and both work fine when the printer is connected to either one as a local printer. On the Vista box, I have the printer shared. I can print some MS-DOS applications using the printer on vista fine (using a net command to 'attach' the printer as LPTn). When I try to print a windows app from the ME maching using the 6540 as a shared resource (The computers are next to each other so i can easily switch back and forth) I get an error. The printer makes a sound like it's going to print but then doesn't. If i connect it to the me and use that 'printer'
to print -- all is fine. So each will print locally fine when the computer is connected to the respective computer.
I had XP before on an earlier computer (replaced by the Vista computer when the XP crashed) and I had no problem printing from me to the shared computer.

Any Ideas ?
