Ok, well the boss is a paranoid freak, and he does not want anyone to create folders...He wants them to be able to modify files but not creat folders only. Can someone please help.

This is what I have done.

First I went through the permissions and set for "Everyone" in the permission settings I unchecked "allow" "create folders" & unchecked "deny". However after I apply the permissions and test it out...It does not allow me to do any type of modifications. Any help would be great.. Please help.

I guess you want to use the Everyone group...I would rather create a new group and place the appropriate users in this global group. Then I would create a domain local group and place the global group in the new domain local group. I would then use the domain local group to apply NTFS and share security.

Lets assume you stick the with Everyone group...

example: D:\data\folder <- lets say Folder is shared and this is where the users need access.

Folder Sharename = Folder
Share Permissions = Everyone CHANGE
NTFS Permissions = Special

Go to the advanced tab in security. Make sure that DENY is not checked anywhere...leave these blank. Check all of the check boxed under APPLY except for CHANGE PERMISSION, TAKE OWNERSHIP, and CREATE FOLDERS.

This should let them create and modify and delete files but not create new folders.

-hope this helps..
