Hi all,

Need to set up two phones (2420s) to share one extension, but only one should ring. How do I set this up?

Thanks.

I've done it this way:

It was for 2 digital phones. I created one phone like I normally do, with the 3 appearances etc. But the second phone I created, I used a non DID number, but on the appearance buttons, I added the bridged appearances of the first extension and then I set the Bridged call alert to NO on the second extension.

Hope this helps......

There isnt anything one can't do, only things one doesn't know how to do.... And if you'll teach, one will learn and therefore one can do...

Can you send me step by step instructions on how to do this?

What about adding a coverage answer group or pick up group. the second option will make phone B just light the pick up button when phone A is called.

rbordeaux thanks for the reply. Maybe the pick up group will work. Basically what I want to do is setup phone A and B to share a single extension and have the option to transfer calls between the two. Phone B should also display A's extension. We have a few guys here with 2 phones and both appear to have the same extension. The people who originally set this up are no longer around and now I am stuck supporting our phone system. Can you walk me thru setting this up? I know a few commands and am able to get around the phone switch.

Thanks.

sf0751 thanks for the example. I was able to set it up and it works!

Thanks again.

You first need to know the extension numbers of both phones.

You can use the following feature for checking this. Check your feature-access-code configration display feature-access-code) and lookf for something like the following:
Self Station Display Activation: *77

In each phone press *77 and you will see the extension number and port. If not use any other method to find out the extension number (call one extension you already know the number and the phone display will show the source phone number).

Once you know the extension use the command to see where that extension is being used. The command is list usa ex <extension number. Example:

list usage extension 2417 SPE A
LIST USAGE REPORT
Used By
Pickup Group Group Number 2

And check the pick up group:

display pickup-group 2 Page 1 of 2 SPE A
PICKUP GROUP
Group Number: 2
GROUP MEMBER ASSIGNMENTS
Ext Name
1: 2417 Smith,John

If you check the station you will see that it has a button configured as 7: call-pkup. This button will light up everytime any phone of the members of the pickup group is called.

In summary to add a new group would be:

add pick-up group next (will pick up the next available number) and add all your extensions there.
change station X and add a call-pkup button to it.
