How can i program a shared folder to allow a user to open a file and edit it and if someone else wants to edit it also that it says file in use if the first user is still editing it.
why do you want two differnet users to edit one file. This causes corruption, unless you are working on a managed database file that handles mutual exclusion and record locking. A single file can not be edited by two users.
Hope this Helps.

This is a small office with 10 pc's and a server with shared folders on it. Currently they can save a doc to this share and if someone opens the share to view this doc or edit it someone else can also view and edit it, and they dont want that, how can that be prevented.
You can, on the share properties of the folder, but ideally, you want to restrict the multiple access to one file, rather than one folder, I will have a look for you.
Hope this Helps.

By default if you are using MS office it will tell if the file is already open when you try to open it and it will prompt you to open in read-only mode. Do you not get this?
When you have the document open it will normally also tell you in the top (Normally blue bar)that the file is read-only.
