I have two W2K laptops that need to share data while offsite, when they not connected to the network. Each one is a member of a Windows 2003 domain back at the office. When trying to access shares a message comes up about no domain server available to authenticate. They can connect just fine when they are members of a workgroup.

Barring dis-joining them from the network each time they go out to do fieldwork and re-joining the domain when back in the office, does anyone know a way around this???

Any suggestions would be much appreciated...

Hi,

I'm have the exact same problem. I recently upgraded my office domain to win2k3 with DNS and now when the president of the company works from home, he can no longer see his other machines on his network over wireless. Same errors. I also had the same issue at home (connecting to my wireless networked XP box) but I resolved it using the Net Use command. Won't work for my boss though. Argghhhh!

I might give this mobile switch a try.

I'll keep looking into it though and post wahtever I find out.

Cheers,

Pikk

If both Home and Office settings use DHCP, then the issue can be resolved within windows: thread616-948701
