SGI Challenge: Hardware Inventory Lockup

I just got an SGI IRIS Challenge L Series deskside server and it does not have a monitor port. So, I rigged up a serial cable to use the primary terminal. So now, when it boots up, I get diagnostic information, then it goes into "Checking Hardware Inventory" then asks me to press <enter> but when I press enter it doesn't do anything. I even tried hooking up an SGI keyboard and pressing <enter> there but that doesn't work either. My IO4 board seems to pass the diagnostics...

Any ideas would be appreciated!
