VFP5 & 6 on page 5 of the setup wizard I specified the default directory as "SalesClerk" and the program group of "SalesClerk" however when I run the setup on the target computer "SalesClerk" don't show up in the program files of the computer. I have to manually create a short cut on the user desktop. I had this situation for a few years now I thought that version 6 would have solved the problem can anyone tell me what i'm missing?

First, are you checking the PM (Program Mananger) box next to your .EXE in Step #6? This is what actually creates an entry in your Start -> Programs Menu.

From the help file for PM Item:
"If you select this option, the wizard displays the Program Group Menu Item dialog box so you can specify program item properties: description, command line, and icon.
In the command line, you can use an embedded %s sequence to replace the application directory. The "s" must be lowercase. Use the %s sequence when you install files in application subdirectories. This ensures that files will be installed in the correct subdirectory in case your users specify a name for the application directory other than the default name. In the following example, Mydata.dbf is installed in the MAINDATA subdirectory of the application directory:
%s\Maindata\Mydata.dbf
If you specify an icon that is outside your source tree, the setup routine will install the icon in your application directory."

The reason I quoted the help file is that there really isn't any more info - I've never "discovered" any additional options. Is there something specific you don't understand or need a further explanation on? In my setups, I normally just have:
%s\myapp.exe -t
As implied in my earlier response the Wizard itself can't create a desktop shortcut, you'll need to add it to the "Post-setup executable".

OK I think I see what you want - just the EXE in the start menu, no Visual FoxPro Applications "group". (In the Wzsetup.ini it's labeled "ProgManGroup".) I don't know of any way to NOT have a group (folder), the best you can do is check the box that allows the user to put it into whatever group they want. (The 'User can modify' option in Step 5.)
Of course you can NOT check any PM in Step 6, and use the techniques in one of the two web links "above" to create your shortcut in the start menu (and/or the desktop) in your "Post-setup executable".
The bottom-line is the setup wizard uses an old 16-bit application that has a number of limitations, but it is free. You can always upgrade to a "real" installer that has all the bells-and-whistles that current applications use and many clients expect.
