I need help!? I have a network with windows NT4.0 on the lan server. I have 9 client servers with ranging from 98 me and xp pro. All computers connect with the lan server domain. However, there is one computer that is a NT work station that is the internet web hosting computer. I would like to have the workstation join the network so when updating the wep page it can be done through the lan, without having to go through the internet. There is one net work card in the machine now which connects to the internet. I want to install a second card that connects to the local lan so the other client machines can access it through the lan. I have installed the second card, but I am unable to get the computer to connect to the lan. Also when the second card is connected, the computer is no longer on the internet. What am I doing wrong? I have a specific IP address and gateway. I also have set up a private network. Just cant get the nt workstation to function properly. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

hi,

nic = Network Interface Card

1 machine + 1 nic -> 1 hostname, 1 (or more) IP ADDRESS

1 machine + 2 nic -> 1 hostname, 2 (or more) IP ADDRESS

These IP address may be also very different:

1) 192.168.1.1
2) 1.0.0.1

In above examples I wrote (or more) becouse you can
set 2 or more IP address in just 1 adapter
(using so called "alias")
-------
Go ControlPanel \ Network

tab Adapters: do you see both nics ?

tab Protocol \ TCPIP \ Properties :

Do you see appropriate Address conf. (IPAD, NM, DG)
for each adapter ?

Stayng at this workstation, it is easy to see both networks.

Advanced.
===========

Routing.
--------
Some problem can be if you want see Net A from a computer
of Net B, and your Workstation have to work as router.
(In such case, go at the tab Routing and enable Forwarding)
(You have to add the IP address of your WS (Net B)
in the Gateways list of the computer of the Net B)

Alias.
------
In the Tab IP Address, push Advanced, and ADD an IPAD+NM
to the same NIC.

bye
