Hi

There are several phones in our business we would like to be for internal use only. That is, we'd like them to have the ability to make intercom calls to other extensions (and receive them), but not have the ability to make or receive external calls. However incase the need arises, we would like the phones to be capable of receiving external calls that have been transferred from reception.

To sum up needs
-No external calls in or out
-Need ability to perform internal calls
-Need ability to have external calls transferred from reception

So my first step is of course to have no lines available for pickup on these units. But how can I go about blocking external call-ins?

Thanks in advance for your help

I trick I have done to block external calls from the AA is to create a guest mailbox with the same MB number as the phone DN. You can then record a message in the ALT greeting that says this phone cannot receive calls and set the greeting to not allow recording of messages.

But you can't stop incoming I/C or transferred calls.

if you don't want the phones to receive or make external calls, don't assign any lines to ring or appear on them. also do not assign them to a line pool. assign prime line as intercom and assign more than one intercom button. this way if an external call can be transferred to them directly or if the call is parked, they can pick that call up the parked location. hope this helps you.
