Setting up net printers as administrator for Domain user

I would like to be able to set up a network printer logged in as an administrator, and have the printer available to all users who log on to the machine. Does anyone know a helpful solution to my issue? -Thanks
 
Set it up and permit sharing and allow access to everyone in the permissions.I would however uncheck take ownership and manage printer.
 
Unfortunately, in win2k, printers are setup for individual users and not all users (setup in each individuals profile). This is for ease when using roaming profiles.
 
printers on virtual ports (HP Jet Direct, etc...) show up on all profiles. i am having the same trouble with shared printers, they only show up in the profile that connected to them. there has to be some way around this.
 
I know there's a way to remotely push the installation of printers from a command-line. Technically you should be using a logon script of some sort or a print server if this is becoming a pain for 'ya..

I agree that there should be a way, but that's not how file/printer sharing is designed to work. A logon script could map a shared printer based on the computer it is, and automatically install the printer it needs. Then, if the printer changes, etc..you will only have to change your script instead of having to loginto every PC, and manually change the printer setup.

The advantages to script-based printer additions and/or print servers FAR outweigh the disadvantages.

Just a thought for you guys..and it's VERY easy to do!

1. Log on as an administrator
2. Go to Start>Settings>Printers and select "Add Printer"
3. Select LOCAL port > create a new port and type the exact path of the network printer (e.g. \\printerserver\hplaserj4100
4. Point to driver location when prompted...you're done!

Now, what you've done is tricked the computer into thinking the network printer is connected locally where it is now available to all users who log on to that box.
