Hi,

I have just bought a Meridian and I want to set it up from scratch - mostly because I would like to learn how to do LD-programming. Do you know a good guide from Nortel to follow?

there's a couple of post here. i've never found a manual at all and usually would not agree with much i;ve seen in print. a couple of things i do that make mine unique..

one is numbering the t1.. if my first local pri is loop 12, then my route data block is 12, my dch is 12 and my primary rlb is 12. gives you a cleaner path.. when your trouble shooting, you don't have to write doww, loop 12 route 1 rlb 6 dch 8..

another big thing i do is when i build my bars, i leave space.. zero is internal, 3 is local, 5 is ld and 7 is international.. then a year down the road if i need a ncos that is internal plus 911 and 1800 i can use ncos 1.. if all stations are getting that i would modify 0 and not have a ncos for internal.. later i could use fr2 if needed. i almost never use tgar/targ.. i x1 on my routes, leaving that prompt blank. those were built for the days when local acod was 9, 8 was acod for ld.. then i do not need ld 49, nfrl unless i have a page route with zones.. i set up idc tables to match my routes.. (idc 12) even if i do not use them on the install..

on the station side, i make all the stations a direct copy of each other.. when possible and i try to leave the key above the last line blank.. so if most users have 2 line, key 0 scr 1111, key 1 scr 2222 key 3 blank, then tran cof forward and the last key on the set is mwk.. 3900 series took that approach..

depends what country your in? as from scrath means doing tones & cadences + Alaw/Ulaw. so are you looking to learn the Admin side or the Install/commissioning?

Remember if it doesn't work hit it harder

I am from Denmark, but I'm pretty sure all the basic stuff has been setup. I'm looking to learn the Admin side and how to physically setup my Meridian 1 cabinet.
