Hi guys,

I need some help on how to get my E1 to be in service. Currently on system status it shows out of service. The service provider has visited the site and using a trend tester has confirmed that the E1 is up on their end.

My E1 is set up as follows:

Line subtype: ETSI
Line signalling: CO
Number of channels: 8
Admin In Service.

I have tried setting the signalling to CPE but still no luck. I am using PRI 30.

The rest of the settings are just default. Any other settings that need to be set up, to get this thing up and running from an IP office perspective? With CM it's a little bit better because I am able to check for errors on the board trace tac and all. Would really appreciate some help with IP Office though.

Thanks

Regards.

As you know by default you get 8 channels for free.
You will need licenses for the other 22 channels.
Did you use a PRI cross cable?
You can make one by crossing it like this:

1 <-> 4
2 <-> 5

3 <-> 3
4 <-> 1
5 <-> 2

6 <-> 6
7 <-> 7
8 <-> 8

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Hi,

Yeah I am using a PRI cross. My question really, is whether there is anything special that would need to be set up to get this thing up and running. I feel that it is just something small, some small parameter I am missing. How I would wish to go to system status and see in service and idle...sigh

Thanks

There is nothing much to setup on the IPO except Sub type, CRC, clock and Line signalling, do you have the correct cable termination? Is CRC checked? Try changing your cable if you sure these settings are right and correspond with protocols on your Service provider

Are you in the UK? A standard patch lead is all you need between the NTE & the IPO. No Crossover needed. Other than that it should work out of the box so to speak.

If my cable had issues would the line be able to work with a trend tester? I am just asking. So I am just thinking that the cable termination is fine. The SP is also set up for master.

Thanks

If the cable works, check your programming or could be hardware. Is this your first E1 install? get a BP to help

Where are you located?
Can you post a screenshot of the isdn30 window?

Hi RTGDFM,

No I am not in the UK, I am in Kenya. I would also like to know if I should be using E1R2 or PRI30, Currently I am using PRI30. The LED is green but it keeps flickering to orange after sometime and that is why I think it's just something small.

Here is a full list of my parameters

Line Number: 01
Card 1
Port 9
Telephone number blank
Incoming group ID 0
Prefix Blank
National Prefix 0
International Prefix 00
CRC Checking On
Clock Quality Network:
Add Not End-to-end ISDN Information Element: Always
Sub type ETSI
TEI 0
Outgoing group type 0
Number of channels 8
Outgoing channels 8
Voice Channels 8
Data Channels 8
Line signalling CO

The rest of the parameters are blank except for cost per charging unit which is set to 618

I am a business partner and this is not my 1st E1 install, but it is my first on IP office, I have worked with CM before and never had such issues.

Thanks

The green is good
The orange blinking once in a while is good too (IPO heartbeat)

You will need licenses up to the amount of PRI channels you have from the provider.

Thanks for that, I know that the service provider has provided 30 channels, I just thought that since I have the 8 default then I can use them or rather get them in service as I still get the additional 22...if only to test whether the E1 is up. Is that possible or will I have to wait until the licensed channels are 30?

Also if you see anything else that I can change from the config screenshot I have sent then feel free to point it out

Thanks

If the LED is green it should syncronised. What do you get on the phone screen when you try to dial out? Is the ? shorcodt pointed at the correct line group?

Add Not End-to-end ISDN Information Element: Always

That is usually set to "Never", also it's fine to only have 8 licenced on a full 30 trunk, it will not stop it working, just limit the channels to 8 :-)

if you are using E1R2:

1.- Channels Tab:
Line Signalling Type: R2DIOD

2.- Advanced Tab:
Zero suppression: HDB3
Clock Quality:Network
Line Signalling: CPE
Incoming Routing Digits: 4
Ani Lenght: 10

This configuration works for Mexico

Saludos..

you can still use the 8 channels available while waiting for the 22 to be licenced. That is why you have those free licences to have a minimal service to clients.
