question: I have a Avaya IPO rel 7. with VMPRO and I have a faxfinder that I need to setup. I have setup the faxfinder, but I'm having a problem with the Avaya IPO side. The faxfinder documentation is out of date. In the IPO I have setup the extension/USers with the DID numbers and I have added the their emails. I have setup the hunt group, but how do I set up the faxing for them? Do I need to make these do forwarding to the huntgroup? I'm confused. Thanks, Trina

I have that doc. I have an issue with when it says setup a virtual user that says joefax. I have DID numbers that I setup for each person. which I setup in the faxfinder too. so the main question here is do I not seetup a virtual becasue I already have the uswers and then just change the forwarding to my hunt grp? Also int he diredftions it says to turn off vmail too email.. and these people want their vmail's to forward to their emails. Does this make sense?

Do you have (1) DID for both the user and the fax line? Or do you have a DID for the user and a DID for the fax?

I have one DID number for each person. no secondary numbers.

what about for rel 7? so the faxing will be setup in the vmpro?

Unless you have a DID for each fax extension you need vmpro to detect the fax tone and transfer it to the appropriate spot. If you have a DID for each fax line, then you can configure it through Manager.

each person has a DID which is their fax number also. They will not be calling through a auto attendant and sending a fax. People will be calling them directly to their DID number and sending a fax which them will go to their email. So I have setup in IPO the emails... BUt I'm missing something for the faxing part. Is it on vmpro or IPO? I'm very cornfused... :S

You cannot do it the way you describe. You have two options:

1) Set-up a separate DID for user and fax (example: user is DID ending in 4000, fax is 4001). You do that for all users/faxes. You would then program the routes through Manager.

2) If you have a single DID for both the user and fax, you need voicemail pro to route the faxes. The IPO itself does not detect the fax tone and route it. The vmpro does this. So, it is not an ideal situation as you would have to feed the calls through the vmpro so they can detect the fax tone and then route them. If vmpro detects it is not a fax, pass it through to the users phone.

It's a easier solution to give each user a DID and each user's fax a DID.

Unfortunatly I don't have extra DID number to do this. BUMMER! So then how do I set it to go through vmpro? If they call through a PRI/T1 and I have the IPO going directly to their DID number, which then inturn goes to vmpro. Then what do I do next do a unconditional forward to the fax hunt grp?

I called the customer and they said that is the way they are working now one DID number then it goes to their email then they send it to a printer. :S

You need to send the calls to vmpro first. The doc I attached goes over how to set it up through a menu action (under the examples section). You will need to create an AA for each user, point their DID to their AA, if the system recognizes it as a fax, it can then route it to the faxfinder. If not, you then route it to the person's extension to ring.

So I need to set up in vmpro a AA for each DID number? was it the document you sent me before? In what section does it say to setup a AA for each DID with an example? Sorry not trying to be difficult I just want to get it correct. Thanks, Trina

The link to the doc I posted above. One of the last sections is VMPro examples. Under there, you will find fax server solutions.

In your AA for each user, make a menu with a 1 second timeout (0 retries) and an option for F.

Route the timeout to a transfer to the user.

Route the F to the fax user that forwards to the fax finder HG.

If the users extensions are the same as the last 3 or 4 digits of their DID (sometimes you get lucky)....it could be really simple to setup one auto attendant to do this. Just takes a bit of creativity.
