I am new to XP and am experimenting with a couple of machines. I would like to be able to set up a common desktop environment that everyone will see if they log into the computer. We are running in a networking environment with a Win2K server and all out other clients are Windows 98. In Win98 there is a setting in the desktop that sets the same desktop for all users...is there a setting in XP similar to this?

I'm not saying it can't be done, but XP works very hard to support personalized desktops and separate user profiles.

You might want to look into mandatory user profiles which are "roaming" profiles that you require for users upon login.

This is a messy thing to get into, but the documentation, though sparse, may prove adequate.

Start by searching the XP Help and Support Center for "mandatory profiles"

- Good luck!
