I have a group (billing@mycompany.com) that forwards to a few other email addresses (i.e. jim@mycompany.com and sue@mycompany.com.)

I want an autoresponder/vacation message to reply to anyone who sends a message to this account EVERY time they send a message to it.

So, if I send a message to billing@mycompany.com, I want a message fired back to say "thanks for your message, we'll reply shortly."

How can I do this? Rememeber, this is a group, not an actual account. Thanks!

hi,

setup an public folder
enable email for this folder
give the folder the right email adress
allow annonymous / standard to create objects in this folder
with the folder assistant crate a rule to reply with an template
set forward to your group
-> this prevent personal autoresponder
(if you have 30 users in this goup and 5 are on vacation the sender will not recive 5 out of office notice)

Thanks for the help...
OK...
I go into Exchange System manager....
Select Administrative group...
Select First administrative group....
Select Folders....
Select Public Folders....
Create new....
Mail enable it....

where do I allow annonymous users to create objects in this folder?
Where is the folder assistant, do you mean inside outlook at the client end, or in ExchangeSystemManager?

How do I set up a permanent autoresponder for just ONE user?

hi,

you are on the right way.
you have two options to set the permissions
1) in Exchange System Manger: YourPublicFolder -> properties -> client permissions

or if you have owner rights to the folder
2) in outlook : YourPublicFolder -> properties -> client permissions

for the next step you must be the owner of the folder
- in outlook select the folder -> properties
- select Folder Management (i think this is the tab i only have a localized german version)
- from here you can select the folder wizard
- now go to add rule
- leave from and to blank
- select reply with -> now you are able to setup a template
(leave the to field blank, it's filled out by the server)
- select forward to -> select your group

for only one user:
use the rule wizard from the users outlook
crate a rule that reply to all messages with a message from the server.
if you use only the out of office an external will only recive >1< message until the out of office is disable / enable
