My company is in a period of rapid expansion at the moment. We are considering the option in a few months time of setting up our own Authoritative name server so that we can manage our own DNS changes, rather than go through a third-party such as an ISP.

Having not done this before, can anyone give me any idea of what the process is ?

TIA

Rob

Do you have your own static IP's for your network?

If so just goto the company your registered the domains and create NS pointers for the domains. You should be able to enter an IP in for the entries.

You will need 2 DNS servers incase 1 fails, and upto a max of 7.

Recommended having 1 name server on a different network incase your link fails.
