I have not been very successful in setting up e-mail notification on the SQL Server box that runs on a cluster. Are there better ways of doing that? I am looking for ways to notify/send alterts like e-mail using a stored procedure, third party software, forwarding alerts to a non-clustered server for rely etc.,.
Thanks.

What problems are you having when setting up mail? What have you done thus far? What kind of mail system do you have? Check the following links.

As the server is on a failover cluster, every time there is a failover, the SQL Mail Agent doesn't know about the mail profile that existed on the other node, though it has a MAPI profile with identical name and settings. And I have Outlook as my mailing system.
Through one of the links that you gave, I came across one KB Article ( that says SQL Mail is not fully supportable when used on a SQL Server failover cluster.

Thanks for the helpful links though.
