I am slightly mythed, I am trying to work out exactly how I can get a vpn set up for our remote sites, but have a few sticking points:

Firstly we have a Dreytek V2600 combined router/firewall box. On Microsofts website under vpn setup pages it clearly states that if you want to run vpn with only one network adapter, your router needs to provide a publishing and translation service. It appears that our router does not provide this, or at least does not mention this fact in any of its documentation.

Secondly, if we use our router's vpn option, can we still log onto our domain in the normal fashion?

Any clarification on this would be much appreciated.

Andrew

1. yes, you can have VPN on windows with one NIC. For more tips or information, go to > VPN setup.

2. router vpn is an option but you may have little difficulty to logon domain.

Thanks for your reply Robert,

So does mean that if i use the router vpn i will not be able to log on to the domain at all to access shared resources?

I am not sure i understand what use this kind of vpn is if so and why would i want to pay $20 for the privalige to find out from Chicago TecConsultants???

1. if you can logon the domain depends on the router but one way or other you should be able to access the resources.

2. sorry, when I said " > VPN setup", I means go to SETUP setion, under that section you can check vpn setup details.
