Setting up a Cisco 2514 router

I now have my transceivers on both my ethernet interfaces for my 2514 router. I have configured everything where I can ping my DSL modem and my 2003 server but I can't get any web pages. My setup goes, wall | DSL modem| 2514 router | server. Like I said, eveything pings internally, just can get any web pages. No ACL's are configure unless I need to do that next. I was thinking DNS but not sure. Any thoughts on how I can get web pages?

Here is where I am at. From my server, I can ping my default gateway and the other ethernet interface on my router but I can't ping the ethernet interface of my DSL modem. What's odd is that I can ping the ethernet of my DSL
from my router but not from my desktop. What am I missing here?

Sounds like a
router(config)#ip rou 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 int e whatever...

Basically I am trying to get my 2514 to work behind an ActionTec DSL modem.

I can't ping the ethernet interface of my DSL modem from my server but I can from the router directly. I tried the static route and that didn't work either.

My PC's address sits on the x.x.1.0 subnet and my DSL's ethernet is 192.168.0.3. I just can't ping it from my PC but I can from the CLI.

You should at first do a no ip access-group 100 out and ensure that your ACL is not your problem. What is the ip and default gateway of your pc?
 
Maybe even try your static route input to your next hop ip.

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.0.3

Are subnet masks on both devices correct?
 
Subnets are default class C subnets. Default gateway is 192.168.1.4, IP of the my PC is 192.168.1.10. I have tried with and without access lists. I have even tried static routes to the 192.168.0.3 address. It just won't ping from my PC but it will from the CLI.

Are you running any type of firewall on your home pc? Something like black ice, zone alarm, or even your default firewall with SP@ on XP (I am assuming your running XP)

Disable it if you are and try again....
 
It's my test W2K3 server, no service packs but I do have Trend running on there. What else is odd is that I can ping my server from the CLI. Just can't get ping to hit the DSL interface.

Have you tracerouted from your W2K3 server to see what it says. You can ping your default gateway right?
 
No traceroute but I can ping my default gateway and the other ethernet interface on the router successfully. I can ping the DSL interface from the CLI but not from my server. It's such a mystery :)

hmm does your DSL device have a route to get back to your ip 192.168.1.10? It would know about directly connected interfaces, (ie: x.x.0.4) but have no idea about your network id behind your 2514 router.
 
That's an excellent point. I totally spaced that one out. I am at work now but I will try that when I get home and then ping you back on the outcome.

Thanks for all your help. Everything works now. I was able to configure RIP on both routers. The ultimate fix for this was configuring a default route to the public IP of DSL modem ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 x.x.x.259.
