Does anyone know of a way to put all phones on hold when we have a fire alarm drill. we use an Avaya switch with IP phone manager.

Seems like it would be better to have all phones put into a voice mail box that says you're having a Fire Drill or emergency and to please hold or leave a message, instead of just having everybody put into hold with no reason for it. Or maybe I just don't understand quite how you are trying to implement this.

Ha!

Would it go something like this:

We appreciate your business, your call is important to us, please hold while we conduct a fire drill.

Sorry, I know this post is of no help.

I would think best would be to let employees know in advance of the Fire Drill so they have time to finish calls, before the Fire Drill. instead of dropping everybody into hold.. although this might not be as much of a real-world situation(I.E a Real Fire wouldn't announce itself and give you warning..)

i agree with infinity, pre warn

how would you explain nthe situation to customers about why they had been on hold so long when you got back in?
