Hi
Does anyone one have advice/step by step guide on setting up IP1608L on Avaya IP500v2 Rls 7 using Netgear GS724TPS network switches. I want to set phones on VLAN2 and PC's on VLAN1.

The phones and data are on the same VLAN at the moment and Im getting bad voice quality. Customers PC's are on the same subnet.
Phones DHCP from the IP500 and the PC's from the router.

My advice it to do a proper voip / data / network survey proir to installing it. if you have any doubts dont do it and consult a network engineer as you just end up giving the product a bad name.....

Set the last port on the netgear fixed on VLAN 2 and set all the other ports untagged = vlan0 and tagged = vlan2.
connect the ipo lan2 to the fixed port on the netgear and put lan1 in another free port.
disable dhcp on lan1 and enabled it on lan2.
then for the ip phones you have a few options, set the vlan manually to vlan2 or configure the dhcp server on the data lan with a extra scope option number 252 and a text string "VLANID=2".

If it ain't dutch it ain't much

I program VLAN on 90% of my installs from 3com switches, HP, DELL, but the one I always have trouble with are GS724TP. They have some auto-VLAN feature and you can't manually set a port for trunk/access etc. I spent 2 days on with level 2 tech support and we couldn't get it to work, unboxed some DELL switches and had VLAN working in 15 minutes; no exaggeration.

We install the netgears without any problem.

Netgear uses PVID too, perhaps you forgot that???

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Why not just connect the phones on their own network on the LAN 2 on the IP office - this way they will be completely seperate from the data network?

Why avoic a good network?
Using separate networks is for sissie's and not neccessery.
