Hi

I'd like to set all users' Printing Preferences for our Main Printer so that everyone defaults to the Plain Paper tray - using a GPO or Logon Script or smilar...

We're using SBS 2003 with XP Pro workstations & a Kyocera KM-5035 Printer.

Any ideas?

Thanks

p.s. I already posted this in 2003 Server forum ( but noticed this SBS forum.. and we have SBS.. so hey presto.. it's moved here :) Great Idea Mark!

Hi Dotobi,

All you seek and more is in my FAQ faq329-5798.

Note that I actually initially developed this Login Script FAQ for my SBS customers. :)

Welcome to the new forum.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

Hi Mark.

Thanks for that. However I've read though it all and can't seem to find what I want to do. I saw the default printer part, but that's not quite what I need….

I don't want to change the default printer. I want to leave that up to the user (there's quite a few printers). What I do want to do is change the 'Printing Preferences' for one particular printer, so that if anyone does use this printer, the print job will default to the 'Plain' Paper tray (cassette 1) unless the user changed it. (Just like going to Printers & Faxes, Right-Clicking on the Printer and selecting 'Printing Preferences'.

Sorry if this is actually covered in your FAQ and I'm just being blind.

Nice add-on scripts by the way. I think the My Docs renamed to computer name is a brilliant idea! I’m still using the dos style scripts. They work well, but after looking at your FAQ, looks like it’s time to move on.

Thanks

Kev

this is done by just modifying thew settings for the printer at the server and have your users connect to the printer via the server. All settings configured at the server then are pushed down to the users.

Using the script I referenced, you can automaticaly add the printer conenction from the server to all users so you do not need to visit the desktops.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark
