We recently discovered a problem where a users logon to the Citrix fails. The session window simply closes right after the users successful authentication, and that without any error indication on screen or in the event viewer.

We already found out, that the cause for this problem actually was the users group membership:

The user is a member of 17 global groups in our domain, when adding the user to one more groups the problem appeared, removing him from groups down to 17 groups again solved the problem.

The question is now why this, and what to do, if we need further group membership.

The system is a Metaframe 1.8 on a Windows 2000 member server of a NT4 domain. None of the added groups have conflicting or deny permissions at any place on the system (we checked that first..)

Greetings
Markus

How are they logging in?
Do they use nfuse, citrix pn?

Also, the application that you have published out...where is it's working directory? Is it default or do you have it launching in the end-users home directory?

We are using the Citrix ICA Client for connection to the Citrix

It is no difference which client version, which type of pc, or which type of connection will be used for the connection - Every time the same result, it's one security group to many, remove him from one and everything works fine....

The desktop is the only "application" shared for the users, and the working directory is placed on the Citrix server.
