Does anyone know of a way to set the session.timeout amount to under a minute say about 30 seconds.

You can set the length of the session state within the Microsoft Management Console. When you go to the properties of the web site you are working with, goto teh home tab, then to the configuration button. When the new dialog box opens, goto the second tab (don't remember the name of it offhand), and it will list the possibility for enableing or disableing buffering, along with the time length of the session state and the script timeout. Set the length of the session state to whatever you want it at (default is 20 min.)

Just out of curiousity, what purpose would you have for the session state if it's only 30 seconds to a minute long? -Ovatvvon :-Q

I want to set the timeout to as short a time as possible so that if the user leaves the login area the session ends. So on the onunload event calls a produre to set the timeout to 30 sec on the new page the timeout will be reset to 15 min, but if they leave the login area the timeout will not be reset and will timeout quickly.

well, when the user ends the connection to the server by going to another web site or closing the browser, the session is ended. The only way it would stay alive is if the user is still connected to the server's web page in which case you don't want to shorten the session timeout anyway because at any time they could become active again. -Ovatvvon :-Q
