Service profile damaged...reinstall service profile

We have a lonely win98 client machine on an NT network, when logging on it pops "Microsoft Connection Manager- Service profile is damaged, re-install service profile" I checked MS technet, however the problem does not occur just upon startup of IE or msn, only upon bootup. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
