Hey all. I just installed Visual Basic 6 and Service Pack 5 onto a computer (IBM IntelliStation M Pro, new system) and ever since, clicking on some links in IE doesn't do anything. It's even a clean install of XP pro. I'm part of a domain, and if I log in as an admin, everything works fine, but logging in as a limited user, things go crazy. For example, if I go to Google and try to search for something, clicking on the Search button does nothing. I've tried to restore the Windows installation, no luck. Tried to reset all IE settings to defaults. Nothing. Any ideas?

Thanks!

jrapp, its a forum for vb 5 n 6. what do u think do ur question relate to vb or even programming.
go n post it in the right forum. u can only get the right answer in a right forum.

computerjin,
jrapp has been having this problem since installing Visual Basic 6 Service Pack 5,and therefore I think that posting the question here is perfectly welcomed, and, at least in this case, a cross post (with a direct reference to this thread) in the IE forum is a good idea as well.
Who is to say if it is direcly related to the VB6 update or not?
Then, if any other VB6 users have expierenced this problem, they would be able to help jrapp quite well.

From the sounds of it jrapp, did you install the software as admin and now are you trying to use it under a different login? If so, try the following two things...

1. Make sure that your login has admin privileges and
2. Reinstall under your login.

Good Luck

If you go to the Control Panel and click on Add or Remove programs (for an example)
Can you click on the different buttons on the left frame?
If so, then I've had a similar problem after installing VB SP.

Hi. I reinstalled the system, joined the domain from windows setup, and was, somehow, able to give myself administrator privilages. I reinstalled everything else, works like a charm. Must have been the administrator thing. Thanks all.
