Service / NT Services user account password

I need to find out what the Services/NT services passwords are on my NT servers - I wasn't around when they were set up and no one knows them.

I'm trying to install groupshield and it's failing I think that knowing these would help. Is there any way of finding the password ? If I changed the passwords in User Manager what sort of horrible things would happen ?

run lophcrack against it
it will tell you the passwords

but if you change pwd's and change it in the properties of the service - it's no probs

Excuse my ignorance but what is lophcrack ?

lophtcrack - search in google for

it's a utility that looks at you sams file and then breaks all the passwords

lopcrack is a password hacking program

You can probably find it doing a search on google , yahoo, msn etc..

I am not sure it is available at downloads.com

Next leading question. On NT4 where is the file that contains the password info for me to run Lophcrack against ?

I believe it is just an application that if you have admin rights it will access the security file and find it.

How to use it is in the drive:\program files\lophcrack\readme.doc

To get it to start go tools , dump passwords from registry.
then click tools , run crack or F4

I am currently running it on my personal pc at home to see how it works.
