Service account password

I installed our Exchange 5.5 Server and upgraded it to Exchange 2000 3 years later, but I was not involved with the upgrade to Exchange 2003. The Exchange 2003 servers are suddenly my responsibility, but I am not up to speed on the product yet.

Does Exchange 2003 make use of the Exchange service account? If so, how do I change the password to that account? I had documentation for changing it in 5.5, but I haven't found anything about changing it in Exchange 2003.
