I am new to win2k Server, but I need some help...

I am a WISP that has a business client with a win2k server. They were using cable for internet access until yesterday. I switched them to my network, everything worked great until this mourning. (please note: I gave them a 4 day beta test last week and everything worked 100%)

The Server: P4 Xeon w/ 2 intel nics

The Setup: DHCP Server & Domain controller
1 nic (North) is for WAN 10.59.1.x
2 nic (South) is for LAN 10.1.1.1
the workstations all get 10.1.10.x ip's.

The Issue: All the sudden the server cannot pass traffic from the Lan to Wan or vice versa.

I tested my network, its fine..I also tried the simple "plug back in the cable modem and still the same issue.

I AM COMPLETELY LOST!! I use redhat and debian servers! I dont really know how to navigate this, so please be specific!

I can tell you that i can ping the internet over nic 1 "North" while on the server....google.com and others reply fine..as well as my gateway (10.59.1.1). It will not pull up pages though..and forget about it on any workstations...

What am I missing? I didnt build this server, and of course the customer thinks I caused this problem...I am pretty positive I didnt... Also, the guy that built the server went outa business so I have NO support!! The client uses the internet for everything..I need to get this running! Thanks for the help!!

it looks like your using 255.255.255.0 as your subnet mask on both nics.

a quick fix would be to change it to 255.255.0.0 for both nics

better still use a completely different range for your north and gateway eg 192.168 range. then there is no confusion

I think I found the problem...The server was not updated and was hit with the Nachi worm...its was blocking all traffic but ICMP..

Removed it, checked my IAS and IIS settings, BOOM! its back up.

Needless to say, I am running to staples to pick up an AV now...any recommendation on what works best with win2k Server?? Thanks!!
