Hi,

Our server has been renamed and the IP address changed. Now, the webpages that reside on that server are not accessible by their old address e.g.
They are however accessible by server's IP address.
e.g.
How do reconfigure the webserver so it would be accessible by its server and domain name again.

I am sorry I have no knowledge of server administration and therefore require your help.

Thanks in advance.

I'm assuming you meant and not

Is this a web server running on a local area network, or is this web server connected to the internet? If it's on the internet you need to contact your ISP and get them to do a DNS change to the new IP address.

If you're on a LAM, it looks like you're having a name resoltion problem problem. Try opening the C:\winnt\system32\DRIVERS\ETC\hosts file on your client machine (or c:\windows\hosts if you're using win9x) and add the following entry:

2342.3423.23423 servername.domainname

This will resolve the IP address when you request the name. If this works, delete the addition to the hosts file and check out your DNS (and WINS) entries for that server.
