I would like to write a web script that would utilise server push - similar to the way a live eBay auction works. I've tried and found that Internet Explorer does not support it. The Macintosh doesn't come up with an error - but doesn't work and PC's display an error explaining that I.E. does not support push. Can anyone help me?

Kind Regards
Duncan

Dunc,

Its use is being deprecated, as per Lincoln Steins pages. The notion of server push technology represents a serious security issue, because you can effectively write unlimited amounts of data to a machine

What you could do is implement an iFrame that refreshes every few seconds and pulls data from a perl script

Just a thought

It's important in life to always strike a happy medium, so if you see someone with a crystal ball, and a smile on their face ...

Thank you Paul - I was not aware of that

Unfortunately I can't use a refresh - it will actually be used for an auction site - and this just won't cut it

:-(

Kind Regards
Duncan
