We need to decide whether to go for Windows 2000 server or Advanced server for a client. Advanced server is 3 times the price and as I understand it the only benefits are more capacity for upgrade and network load balancing and clustering. Bearing in mind we are planning this for a network of 15 sites each with no more than 40 or 50 clients and that the servers will be performing only basic file serving I was going to go with Win 2k Server.

Are they any other reasons why I should go for Advanced server instead???

i think there are no such resons as such to go for a adv win2k server.
instead of paying that much for the adv version , u can spend a little more on the processor and ram for thw win2k server ;)

I Agree, Ad Server is Normal Server with the capacity of Double the amounts of processors and RAM, but do you really need more than 4 processors/4GB RAM???!!!

Then nope, you want normal server. I Use it and highly recommend it. Steve Hewitt
