We recently set up a Win 2k network that has w2kserver1 as a domain controller and eng_server as a server attached to the network. The eng_server has drawings that need to be accessible for all users. When trying to access the eng_server the following message appears:

\\eng_server is not accessible. The computer or sharename could not be found.

Several users who have admin rights can access this server. The problem occurs on multiple windows platform machines. The eng_server shows up in Network Neighborhood. The eng_server can also be pinged using the IP address and the server name from computers that can not access it through Network Neighborhood.

I'm stumped as to what to do. Any ideas?

Sounds like those files needing to be accessed on the eng_server should be put in one location on that server and then shared out. Set the permissions on that share to let all needed users access. Once set up they should be able to map to that share and access all needed files. Let me know if this helps!

I would check and make sure that the is not a limit on the number of users that can connect at any certain time. I would also look at how the permissions are set on the share.
