hi everyone

lately our Win2K server has decided the travan drive is no longer with us. the device option pull-down menu only lists the floppy drive. inserting a new tape will cause the tape to retension, but the drive does not reappear. I have left the backup program up, but the drive still disappears.

rebooting the server restores access to the drive, but it will disappear again during the day.

any help greatly appreaciated

sorry for the repost, I was looking a page 2 of the forum, and thought I messed up posting

Did you by chance run any updates recently? I had the same problem on a 2k workstation with a tape drive. turns out I had to uninstall media player 9. Once I did that, everything came back online.

Just a thought

hmm. that's a good point karmic. will have to check my logs. I don't recall doing any media player items, but you never know what is in some updates.

thanks
