When I come in the morning the server is locked up. I have to restart it. When I go to the event log after start up I have a error message that reads.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: EventLog
Event Category: None
Event ID: 6008
Date: 6:55:30 AM
User: N/A
Computer: SERVER
Description:
The previous system shutdown at 2:34:15 AM on 2/3/2001 was unexpected.
Data:
0000: d1 07 02 00 06 00 03 00 N......
0008: 02 00 22 00 0f 00 99 03 .."... .
0010: d1 07 02 00 06 00 03 00 N......
0018: 0a 00 22 00 0f 00 99 03 .."... .

There is not enough information here to tell you exactly what went wrong. If the server was not responding and you pressed the power button on the server to turn it off, this message is telling you that the server was not shut down properly. You should always shut down 2000 machines using start --> Shut Down.

You want to look in the Event log for an error that happened before this error.

Hi Yoder,

Is your server still experiencing the 6008 errors? Our server is also starting to do that. It's odd that when it happens (about 2-3 times every 2 weeks) it always happens before 12 noon.

The event preceeding the unexpected shutdown was printing by one of our users.

If you're still having these problems (or if you have managed to work yours out), we can work together or you can tell me what you've found out.

Thanks...
