Hello,

I've been trying to get OMA to work, but i keep getting this error message after login. Configuration error. Parser Error message: Unrecognized attribute 'xmlns'. Line 2:<configuration xmlns=
Source file is \program files\exchsrvr\oma\browse\web.config

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you.

Sorry I can't assist with your error, however I would advise you to abandon the use of OMA. OMA support has been depricated by Microsoft, future versions of Exchange will not have it. If you (and your users) become used to it you will face a rough battle when you upgrade to E12.

Have your users purchase WM5 phones and the need for OMA goes away.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

If you want OMA functionality I highly recomend this third party alternative. It is not very expensive, has a better feature set and works much better. Go to and check out owa-pda.

Of course once you go to WM5 and Active Sync you won't look back.

I thought you needed OMA to work for ActiveSync to function. Am i wrong?

OMA and Active Sync are seperate features. OMA is like OWA for phone/pda based web browsers. Activesync syncronizes the data to your phone.

You are incorrect. OMA is a web based limited graphics version of OWA for use on PDAs. With WM5 it is no longer needed.

If you are having problems with ActiveSync, you probably have problems with your certificates. Depending on the device used you may want to disable cert checking. MS has a free tool to do that on the PocketPC web site.

I hope you find this post helpful.

ok OMA is out of the picture, but i'm having problems with ActiveSync. Getting Support Code:80004005 telling me i should try to delete the relationships. I added a cert that was self signed by using W2K3, added the cert to the mobile device using "smartphoneaddcert" from Microsoft's website (thanks markdmac). It successfully installed the self signed cert to the root, but I still cannot Sync. Also tried removing and adding the relationships still nothing. Is there anything on the firewall i have to open, I already have 80 and 443 open

make sure that the cert matches the MX record you are using to connect.

Also check all of your permissions in IIS.

I don't know if I'm getting close, but now I'm getting "ActiveSync encountered a problem on the server. Support Code: 85010014". I am using a self signed cert.

Thanks for the links, but I've tried most all of those links already and I'm still at a loss. Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Sorry but there is only so much we can do from this end.
You will need to read read and read, google until your sick, test, eliminate etc. That's what we do.
