I am trying to test and make the new server edition run virtually under windows 2008 R2 or windows 2012. I have been unsuccessful with getting the NIC to work on the virtual server.

I have tried the normal network and the legacy network and neither will allow me to ping the virtual server or get it working. It starts working when the virtual server is rebooted and then stops after a few seconds. Since it works for a bit I don't understand why it would stop working.

Has anyone had success with getting this to work in the lab or the field? We have so many clients where we could roll this out easily with virtual servers and it also allows us to utilize our servers and network resources much more efficiently.

Please don't lecture me on using the Avaya HP servers. I really am hoping to find out what I'm missing here. Perhaps I need to install the hyper-v drivers in Linux?

First of all it is not supported to run the server edition on a virtual server.
At this moment you will need to buy a server from an Avaya business partner.

Yes they should have supported this but at the moment they are testing this.
It won't make this year so do not count on it yet.

Open monitor and you will see a red line stating that the IPO server edition is not supported on a virtual server.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I am an Avaya Business Partner and ACIS and ACSS certified. I am aware that it's not supported and not the thing to advise people to pursue.

With virtualization we can snapshot the server and have it backed up for instant restoration in the event of failure on another physical server. We can monitor the RAID more effectively, and we can utilize our servers more efficiently. For now I'm trying to get this running for my own edification and enlightenment. I can envision several scenarios where running this virtually will help tremendously on emergency service calls.

I was just curious if anyone had tried and if anyone had any advice on this :)

There is a virtual server available for demo's
You can run this and have about 4 extensions and sip channels.
I only cannot find the link anymore :)
