SERVER EDITION SCN TO IPO IMPOSSIBLE

Hi to you all.

I would like to create an SCN between a IPO500v2 CNTRL UNIT and a SE.
On the SE I get the statement that SCN is only used between Primary SE and Secondary SE or Expansion Module.
On the IPO500v2 CNTRL UNIT there is no such statement so I can create an SCN ointing to the SE.
On the SE since I cannot create an SCN to the IPO500v2 CNTRL UNIT, I have created an H323 H450 instead.
There is communication between the two but not a proper SCN where I can share configurations and so on.

How do I achieve a full SCN between the two?

You need to think different.
The server edition can use the IP500v2 as a expansion system.
You need a server edition license per system (that can be primary, secondary or expansion system)
You need to add the IP500v2 form manager and follow the manual.
You should never manually create the SCN trunk.

I was following the SCN Job Aid and it talks about creating an H323 Line and selecting IP Office SCN on the Supplementary Services drop down.
Advise a bit more please.

My advise it to think
When you hve two IP500's then yes follow that manual but the server edition works different.

Login to the primary server with manager.
Then you should have an option to add a secondary server or an expansion system.
When you add the expansion system you just enter the IP address or let manager search.
Keep in mind that your IP500v2 config will be erased!!!
Manager has done everything for you so no need to add the SCN trunk by yourself.

But why do you want to do that?
It is a slave of the server so i think it is the best to do it from scratch and on the server itself.

I hear you. Im doing my best to think smile but Its a first time. In a situation where I then need to have say 10 IPO forming an SCN with
the SE the same concepts does apply still? Just entering all 10 IP addresses on SE?

Will this be a real install or just for the test?

You will need to have at least 11 server edition licenses (1 primary and 10 expansion systems)
Just add them one by one.
The IP500v2 will reboot but the server does not as you need to do that manually.
Only then the expansion system is added.
So add them one by one and then reboot the primary.

If you have multiple sites already running stand alone you can add them to your solution and then you can move the users. So downtime is less. And it also depends on how the customer likes their resilience setup. If you only have one primary server and it goes down where do the Phones register? So they need to be local registerd if the IP500 goes down they register to the server and not viceversa.

Yes lab for now. But in real life will it be possible to have 10 IPO forming an SCN with SE or only the IPO can form SCN within IPOs then the SE will just become an H450 site?

In my lab I have an IP500 connected via Shortcodes/H450 to a server solution but this is just for testing!

What will be an ideal production set-up where there is one Server Edition and 10 IPOs with regard to a community and UCS?

The best way is to connect the IPO's by using it as a server edition.
Anything else is not for production environments.
Bas and i play a lot but most of it is unsupported but we do that just because you can (at least i do)
Yes sometimes unsupported can be needed but when you have a server and ten IP500's then stay supported.
See the IP500 SCN and the Server SCN as two different ways although they use the same protocols and even the same configurations.
Only the server edition creates the SCN by itself by using the proper tools.
