I am trying to determine how many VM Pro ports I should have. I have the following licenses:

4 - Server Edition
1 - Preferred Edition Additional Voicemail Ports 8
1 - Preferred Edition Additional Voicemail Ports 8
1 - Preferred Edition Additional Voicemail Ports 4
1 - Preferred Edition Additional Voicemail Ports 4
1 - Preferred Edition Additional Voicemail Ports 2

So here is why I am confused. The Docs say you get 2 VM ports with the Server Edition license(so I should have 8).

The Server Edition license:
• Enables support for the Voicemail Pro application on the Primary Server and Secondary Servers, with default support for 2 voicemail channels. For each additional Server Edition system licensed, 2 additional voicemail ports are enabled on the Primary Server's voicemail server. Voicemail Pro enables meet-me conferencing, advanced messaging, automated attendant, call recording, conditional call routing, queue announcements, mobile twinning, call control and call-back.
• The license enables voice networking between systems in the Server Edition network.

SSA says I only have 26 ports and voicemail tab under system in Manager says I have 30 unreserved ports (no ports have been allocated). According to my math, 8 server edition ports plus 26 additional ports equals 34 ports.

So what is it? 26, 30 or 34???

Are the Server Edition License VM Pro Ports a R9 thing?

I should say 34.

Tried to delete all licenses except 1 server licence then add them the other licenses one by one and look a the system status.

I think the problsem is SSA. I have 2 expansions connected and in SSA under resources it says only 1 out of 4 server edition instances in use but under networked licenses I see 1 allocated for the server and 2 allocated for the expansions? But then why do I have 30 to allocate in Manager?

BAS1234,

I will delete the licenses tonight to see what happens.

FFrey, for every server edition license you get 2 ports.
If you have 4 server edition licenses then you have 8 ports.
Any additional VMPro port licenses will be added to this.
So 26 plus 8 is 34 channels.

SSA says 26
Manager says 30

What does monitor say?
What happens when you activate more then 30 channels by just let dial users *17?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Update: After further investigation I found that 1 of the additional 8 port licenses was virtual. When I delete a server edition license, the count on the virtual additional licenses decreases by 2. So the ports you get from the server edition licenses show as a virtual additional ports license. That being said why does manager show 30 unreserved channels? I confirmed I only have 26 total.

OK so you did not order those 4 extra?
You indeed get two channels (virtual) with a server edition license.
When you have 10 server edition licenses then you will have 20 channels.

Right. I have 4 server edition licenses which show in manager and SSA as a separate virtual 8 port license. With the 8 virtual and my other 8, 4, 4 and 2 port additional ports licenses equal 26. Manager says I have 30 to allocate.

Then Manager is wrong i guess.
Are you able to allocate more then 26?

It will let me allocate all 30. Must be a manager error. 8.1(69)

Then i would try it out.
Assign all 30 to one thing and they try to see how many channels you can use.

I assigned 26 channels to auto attendants and placed a call into VM(*17). I got RNA. I then allocated 25 to auto attendants and left 1 unallocated and dialed *17. I got "Welcome to IPO".
