Server down notification

I need an immediate advice. One of our email server went down this morning which consistt of more that 1500+ mailboxes. My question is, how could I configure my bridge server is such a way that is there is a mail (internal or external) intended for any mailbox that is home at my downed server will send a notification to the sender that his/her mail did not reach the intended recipient because the recipients mailbox is under maintenace.

Any help will be much appreciated.
